Caitlyn’s Joy

Description

Caitlyn’s Joy features striking raspberry-colored blooms with a subtle metallic sheen. The rounded ball-shaped flowers grow on strong, reliable stems and hold up well in the garden, even during less-than-perfect weather. This variety is known for its productivity and is a great choice for harvesting straight bunches or adding vibrant colour to bouquets.

Harvest & Vase Life

Dahlias do not continue opening much after they are cut, so timing your harvest correctly is important. Pick blooms when they are about three-quarters open, but before they become overly mature.

Check the back of the bloom to ensure the petals feel firm and fresh, rather than papery or dry.

After cutting, place stems directly into water with floral hydrator. You can also sear the stem ends by dipping them in hot water (around 160–180°F, just below boiling) and letting them cool in the water for about an hour.

With proper care, blooms typically have a vase life of about 5 days.
