THREE BIRDS

Muskoka Flower Farm

Three Birds is a micro flower farm created by sister duo Leslie and Jackie Brunton in 2021. Our farm is located in the Muskoka region in-between Port Carling and Bracebridge Ontario. In the inception of our farming journey, sustainable practice has been our sole focus. We are a small scale high intensity operation, allowing us to grow large volumes of high quality blooms on our 2 acres of land.

The Muskoka region is known for its bustling seasonal economy and is one of the most sought after wedding destinations in the province. Many florists and brides have to travel to the Toronto flower market or rely on internationally sourced blooms which have a substantial carbon footprint. Our goal is to provide a local flower industry with a product that is grown pesticide free and with the most carbon neutral methods.

OUR STORY

Sister Owned Family Business

Jackie and Leslie are a sister duo that grew up spending their summers on the Muskoka lakes. In 2008 they started their seasonal landscaping business in Port Carling which cultivated their passion for growing plants and maintaining some of the most exceptional landscapes in Muskoka. After 14 years of landscaping they have become increasingly concerned about the environmental impact of their work life in the place they call home. One simple question became the focus in their lives “what can we do to make a difference?”

We want to be a part of an industry that does not harm our planet. In farming we found we could enrich the land and build a diverse ecosystem that supports the living organisms in our environment. We do not use pesticides and other harmful chemicals in our gardens, therefore they are teaming with life. Snakes love the shade the floral canopy provides, the birds feast on seeds in the Fall and provide pest control and the pollinators enjoy the nectar of our flowers all Summer long. We provide sustainably grown flowers to the local Economy which limits the carbon emissions that are so prevalent in the floral industry.

We are very proud to be a part of the Muskoka community and look forward to providing beautiful seasonal blooms for everyone!

BROOKLANDS FARM

In the Fall of 2021 Three Birds Flower Farm entered a partnership with Brooklands Farm to expand our growing space. Brooklands farm is a 6th generation farm located on Butter and Egg Road and we couldn't be more honoured for the opportunity to grow on land so rich in soil and Muskoka heritage.

The Riley family has worked the land on Brooklands since 1876. First as a Settler’s farm, later as a Dairy Farm, delivering milk around Muskoka Lakes, and more recently as a horticulture and maple syrup operation. In the last decade, the century buildings and gardens have been transformed into a spectacular destination event venue.

SUSTAINABLE
LOCAL
PESTICIDE FREE

In supporting local growers you are contributing to an industry that strives to lower carbon emissions.

Local flowers = less emissions!

We only offer seasonally available blooms, and say no to chemically dyed and bleached products. We dry our flowers naturally to provide everlasting arrangements in the Winter months.

We do not use any pesticides or harsh chemicals on our product resulting in a biodiverse environment that is safe for the birds and the bees.

We refuse to use floral foam or cellophane wrapping and prefer paper sleeves and reusable mechanics for instillation and design work.
